Clos du Roy

Sylvain Pataille
A luminous white from one of Marsannay's most passionate growers, farmed organically on limestone-rich soils just north of Gevrey. The vines sit on a gently sloping parcel where chalky clay gives the wine its tension and saline lift. Hand-picked grapes are gently pressed, then fermented with wild yeasts and aged on fine lees in seasoned oak, giving texture without masking the fruit. Expect white peach, citrus zest, crushed stone and a touch of hazelnut, carried by a bright, mouth-watering finish. Lovely now with grilled fish, creamy goat's cheese or roast chicken, yet it will reward a few years in the cellar.
