Les Souriants & Cyril Alonso
😄 Les Souriants & Cyril Alonso — wines that make you grin
Some bottles take themselves very seriously. These ones don't. Born from the partnership between the Les Souriants collective and winemaker Cyril Alonso, this range is all about pleasure first: juicy fruit, gentle extraction and that lovely drinkability that empties a bottle before you've noticed. Cyril has spent years working alongside growers across the Rhône and Beaujolais, hunting down old vines and honest plots, then letting them speak for themselves in the cellar.
🍇 A terroir you can taste
The vines sit in the south of France and the granite hills of the Beaujolais, where warm days, cool nights and poor, stony soils push the roots deep. Granite, clay, limestone and rolled pebbles each leave their own signature: brightness here, roundness there, and always a bit of that sun-soaked southern generosity. Farming is respectful, harvest is by hand, and the grapes arrive whole and healthy — which is exactly why so little needs doing afterwards.
🍷 The grapes behind the smile
Gamay takes centre stage, offering crunchy red berries and a peppery lift. Grenache brings warmth and ripe strawberry, Syrah adds violet and spice, while Cinsault keeps everything light on its feet. On the white side, expect Viognier, Clairette and Grenache Blanc for floral, stone-fruit freshness. Vinification leans natural — semi-carbonic maceration, native yeasts, minimal sulphur — so the fruit stays front and centre.
🥂 When to open one
Serve them slightly chilled with charcuterie, grilled vegetables, a roast chicken or simply good company. These are wines for a Tuesday evening as much as a Saturday feast — unpretentious, alive and genuinely fun. Grab a bottle and see why the name fits so well.
