Vinas Mora

🍇 Viñas Mora — Spanish sunshine in every bottle

If you've ever wondered what Spain tastes like when it's bottled with care, Viñas Mora is a lovely place to start. This is a family-minded producer that keeps things refreshingly simple: good grapes, honest winemaking and wines you actually want to drink on a Tuesday night, not just on special occasions. No fuss, no showing off — just real character in the glass.

📍 A terroir that does half the work

The vines grow on the high plains of northern Spain, where the Duero river shapes the landscape and the climate plays hardball. Scorching days, surprisingly cold nights and poor, stony, sandy soils — it sounds harsh, and it is, but that's exactly what the vines love. They dig deep, produce small berries packed with flavour, and give wines with real freshness and aromatic punch. Add altitude to the mix and you get that lovely balance between ripe fruit and lively acidity.

🍷 The grapes behind the wines

Verdejo is the star for the whites: think citrus zest, white peach, a whisper of fennel and that signature slightly bitter almond finish that makes you go back for another sip. You'll also find Sauvignon Blanc bringing extra zip and green notes. On the red side, Tempranillo (known locally as Tinta de Toro or Tinto Fino) delivers dark berries, plum and gentle spice, sometimes rounded off with a touch of oak for depth and softness.

🥘 What to pour it with

The whites are made for grilled prawns, goat's cheese, fresh salads or simply a sunny terrace with good company. The reds step up nicely alongside grilled lamb, chorizo, roast vegetables or a slow-cooked stew. Honestly, they're easygoing enough to work with whatever you've got planned.

✨ Why you'll keep coming back

Viñas Mora wines offer that rare combination: proper quality, clear Spanish personality and prices that won't make you wince. Whether you're stocking up for the weekend or looking for a safe bet to bring to dinner, these bottles rarely disappoint. Give one a try — chances are it won't be your last.

Andreis

A characterful red from Spain's Bierzo-inspired school of old-vine winemaking, crafted by a small family estate with a real respect for the land. The fruit comes from mature vineyards rooted in slate and clay soils, where cool nights preserve freshness and low yields concentrate flavour. Hand-harvested grapes are gently fermented and aged to build depth without masking the vineyard's voice. Expect dark berries, wild herbs and a subtle smoky, mineral edge, with fine-grained tannins and a long, savoury finish. Pair it with grilled lamb, slow-cooked stews or a board of aged cheeses. The 2021 vintage drinks beautifully now and will reward patience.
