🍷 Filipa Pato: “Wines Without Makeup” from the Heart of Bairrada

Filipa Pato is a leading figure in Portugal’s new generation of winemakers. The daughter of renowned vintner Luis Pato, she founded her own estate in 2001 in the Bairrada region. Alongside her husband, Belgian sommelier William Wouters, she farms about 12 hectares biodynamically (Demeter certified), focusing on native grapes like Baga, Bical, Arinto, Cercial, and Maria Gomes. Their motto: “wines without makeup” — pure, additive-free wines that reflect the limestone-rich terroir.
