Scar of the Sea

🍷 Scar of the Sea: California Wine Shaped by Ocean Fog, Coastal Terroir, and Sensitive Craft

Founded in 2012 by Mikey Giugni in San Luis Obispo, Scar of the Sea reflects a humble, regenerative vision of winemaking. Inspired by the daily presence of the Pacific — its fog, sandy soils, and cool climate — the winery works with partner vineyards committed to organic or biodynamic farming. Grapes come from historic sites like Bien Nacido and Bassi Vineyard, often planted in the 1970s. Winemaking is natural: native yeasts, neutral oak, no fining or filtration, minimal sulfur. The wines are elegant, vibrant, saline, and tell a story of place, people, and vintage.
