Michel Bufflier
🍷 Michel Bufflier: Natural Wine from Haute-Savoie on the Magical Terroir of Le Feu
Michel Bufflier is a winemaker and cheesemaker based in Marignier, Haute-Savoie. He farms nearly one hectare of old vines in the Ayze appellation, on the exceptional site of Le Feu, known for its red marl soils rich in iron oxide. Inspired by the late Dominique Belluard, a pioneer of the Gringet grape, Bufflier practices organic farming without herbicides or pesticides (uncertified). His winemaking is natural, with no additives and only a minimal amount of sulfur. The wines are aged in concrete eggs, enhancing the pure, mineral expression of Gringet. He also produces a rare Mondeuse cuvée from just 1000 m² of vines, yielding around 300 bottles per year.
