Meursault Sous la Velle

Domaine Rougeot
From a family estate in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, this white Burgundy comes from a lieu-dit just above the village, where shallow limestone soils give the wine its tension and mineral edge. The Rougeot family farms organically, working the vines by hand and letting the grapes ripen slowly before a gentle press and fermentation in oak barrels. Ageing on fine lees builds a creamy, generous texture without masking the fruit. Expect white peach, citrus zest and hazelnut, with a saline finish that keeps you coming back. Lovely now with roast chicken or scallops, and happy to wait a few years.
