Frank Cornelissen

🍷 Frank Cornelissen: Volcanic Natural Wine from the Slopes of Mount Etna

Based in Solicchiata on the northern slope of Mount Etna in Sicily, Belgian-born Frank Cornelissen founded his estate in 2001, drawn by the geological and energetic richness of this volcanic terroir. The estate spans 24 hectares, including 13 hectares of old vines grown between 600 and 1000 meters altitude, farmed organically (uncertified). Frank follows a radical, intuitive approach: no additives, no sulfur in some cuvées, vinification in amphorae, neutral tanks, or large casks. He believes nature cannot be controlled—only observed and respected.

🌿 Philosophy

  • Absolute respect for nature, observation over intervention.

  • Natural winemaking, no added sulfur in select cuvées.

  • Pure expression of volcanic terroir, no makeup.

🍇 Grapes and Style

  • Nerello Mascalese, Carricante, Catarratto, Grecanico, Minella, Inzolia…

  • Vibrant, mineral reds, whites, rosés, and orange wines—often unfiltered.

  • Signature cuvées: MunJebel®, Susucaru® Rosso, Susucaru® Bianco, Susucaru® Rosato, Magma®.
