Catherine Riss

👩‍🌾 History and Journey

Catherine Riss is the daughter of restaurateurs and trained in viticulture and oenology (BTS in Beaune, diploma in Dijon).

She worked with prestigious winegrowers: Michel Chapoutier (Rhône and Alsace), Jean-Louis Trapet (Burgundy), Lucas Rieffel and Antoine Kreydenweiss in Alsace.

In 2014, she acquired her own vines in Mittelbergheim and became an independent winemaker.

📍 Location and Surface

The estate is located in Mittelbergheim, a renowned wine village at the foot of the Vosges massif.

Surface area: about 3 hectares of vines.

🌱 Philosophy and Practices

From the beginning, Catherine Riss chose organic viticulture and obtained AB certification in 2015.

She follows the natural wine movement, influenced by Alsatian pioneers such as Patrick Meyer and Jean-Pierre Rietsch.

Meticulous soil work, manual harvests, vinifications without unnecessary inputs, sometimes without added sulfites.

🍇 Grapes

Cultivated varieties: Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Noir, Pinot Auxerrois.

This diversity allows the production of dry white wines, elegant reds, and original cuvées.
